Thumper. missing cat. Siamese-looking

My buddy, my pal!

12th & Q, SE corner, down Q going East... 6/27 Sat. ~6:30p chat with neighbor who saw Thumper being carried away by a woman (also, see further down, an account of a stolen dog from nearby Whole Foods 6/29--any connection to each other?)

FIRST, basic details for all people to watch out for (yeah, yeah, sketchy but better than nothing--and, i have a witness! fyi, further down are the full details of the snatching):

* Short woman, about 5'2 or 5' 3" (since i'm 5' 5'', and witness says she was shorter than me).

* light skinned

* maybe blond hair

* slim like me  (i'm 128 lbs).

My neighbor wittness, Paul, says he'll know her the next time he sees her and will definitely confront her, because "it's just not right!"  This witness is my neighbor just 4 doors away; he says if he ever sees her again, he will confront her; if I'm home, then I would get a better description of her--video with my video camera--and give the information to the police, to be added to Thumper's police report (CCN#019-299, btw), and for future, watchful reference.

Now, the full details of the snatching incident with an eyewitness account:

My neighbor named Paul, who lives on the 12th/Q street, SE corner (4 doors north from me), says that he saw someone carrying a Siamese-looking cat, walking down Q Street (south side) in the Eastward direction (she was passing an alley that is parallel to 12th Street, whose entrance is in the middle of the block of Q Street--therefore, around the corner from his apt bldg).  This siamese-looking cat in her arms, Paul he says that he's seen it before, all the time, and that the cat is always walking along my block--hence, he swore up and down that yes, it was my cat (which I continued to describe to him in our conversation, in order to more fully determine that the cat in the woman's arms was the same cat as mine). Paul was very emphatic that the cat in her arms is the cat that he ALWAYS sees walking on my block--therefore, the cat in her arms in a regular on my block, and that the cat WAS Thumper, because there is no other cat that looks like him walking here on my block, regularly.

He swore it's the same cat, that the cat in her arms IS my cat...unfortunately, he just never knew who the owner was, so therefore, when he saw the woman carrying the cat, he thought she was the owner and said to himself, "huh, she's taking it out for a walk" and thought it was a strange thing for her to do, for who takes cats for walks??

 The woman he described was Caucasian, short, sort of my body width--meaning, therefore, she might've been sort of slim like me; I am 5'5" and weigh 128 lbs.  He said MAYBE her hair was blonde but he couldn't quite remember, because he was looking at the cat and the situation of "walking it."

When he told me this story, I was actually sitting outside my rowhouse apt; I had a sign outside, a big whitewash board with info about my missing cat.  Paul walked by, then did a double take, and came back; he read the sign, looked at me in a puzzled manner, and repeated, "Siamese?" "THAT's YOUR cat?"Walks from around the corner all the time, walks down here on the sidewalk all the time? that's YOUR cat?" then, he related the story in the above paragraphs.

He swore that yes, the cat in her arms "IS YOUR CAT."  He emphatically stated that the pictures on this thumpercat website and the cat in her arms were one and the SAME, because he knows my cat, sees him all the time, and there are NO other similar looking cat in the neighborhood, no other Siamese (btw, we in this neighborhood, basically, do know all the cats around here, the alley cats that are "monitored" etc.  Plus, i have lived here for 5 years, so people around here have been seeing Thumper for 5 years).

Bottomline: Was Thumper snatched--was he stolen? He did have tags on, with his 1517 12th Street NW address, rabies tag from a dc vet (vet's ph number), AND his current cat-specialist tag (the vet's phone number and an ID associated with Thumper), and my phone number, too.  No one's called yet; of course, there's also the possibility that his collar snapped off.

 Currently, I just have this witness account--no video, still picture and/or the woman with Thumper actually in her position.  However, the eyewitness account gives a lead and a "food-for-thought."  50-50: maybe Thumper was stolen, maybe not--I can't rule out the thievery, though (because Thumper's still not back), so the eyewitness account should be strongly considered, especially it is the strongest lead (at least someone saw something, compared to the other missing possibilities that have NO eyewitnesses, such as seeing Thumper walking away from my block to another block, or Thumper dead by the side of the road...).

Please keep an eye out in your neighborhood for any cat that looks like mine, and when possible, call me asap, so I can come on over and look at the cat, research your lead.  Who knows, maybe the cat you see is Thumper, who was stolen or snatched, and taken out of his neighborhood!!!  Or, is Thumper just being frisky and meandering around (which he's never done before in the 10 1/2 years I've owned him, especially since he's an indoor cat)? 8(

7/2: Viewers, please be sure to read the other section, "Stolen Dog/Connection" for more information about clues to Thumper's possible theft (if it's the same woman, who have done both crimes)--including 7/2 email update.  image of woman coming soon (in which case, it'll be shown to my witness who saw a woman carrying Thumper away).

fyi, I still hope that Thumper jumped out of the woman's arms!  Please continue to the next paragraph to read the full information concerning the witness to Thumper being carried away.

Please be careful when leaving your dog outside of stores, someone is snatching up pets. A client of mine informed me today that their female Vizsla, around 7yrs old has been stolen from outside of Whole Foods Monday June 29th at 6pm!!! She has she has short, red/rust hair, is about 60-70lbs, has a distinct scar from a past surgery on the inside right hind leg near her knee. She also has a pink, nylon collar with cupcakes around it if it was not removed already. She is chipped and AKC is already notified of her missing. RESPONDS to her name Molly, does not have much interest in other dogs, LOVES people (she likes to bury her face between your legs) and loves to play fetch. Please, if anyone saw anyone suspicious or has any leads to her contact any of us immediately! Owners are offering reward for her safe return.

UPDATE!! If you see this woman and Molly, you can also call police as we have a report #CCN091247 and let them know where she is they will come right away. She may also have been stealing cats from the area as well. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/pet/1246887382.html

She has been sighted this morning June 30th in the morning around am rush hr at the intersections of 15th and Q Street. I will be scanning that area this evening and tomorrow am by bicycle. I will copy and paste descriptions -

--- I think I saw Molly this morning on my way to work at the southeast corner of 15th and Q St. NW. She was not on a leash, so I remember being concerned that she would not run into traffic. She was being trailed by about 5-6 feet by a woman with thick, sort-of bushy grey-brown hair. The woman was wearing a light jade green knit top and shorts, I think. I also think she had a round, straw sun hat on. She was carrying a light blue leash in her hand and so I thought that maybe she was the owner -- but I guess not. I think they were together walking east.

--- One guy said he saw a kind of unkempt
woman with wild redish hair messing with a dog that matched Molly's
description last night outside Whole Foods, and another guy said he
saw a vizsla without a collar this morning at 15th and Q. Both had
seen the flyers outside WF.

---I'm 95% positive I saw Molly this morning, walking without a leash, at the
> corner of 15th and Q St. NW. It was certainly strange to see such a
> beautiful dog without a leash or owner.

> After a moment, an older woman with wild, stringy hair wearing a green dress
> walked by, and seemed to be "following" the dog at a safe distance, rather
> than actually walking it.

> My neighbor has also confirmed this sighting, as well as the odd woman.

> Please be on the lookout!
